Our Analytics engines continually re-analyze and re-examine our extensive database of tweets and Twitter profiles in order to continually improve reports — even data for reports that you’ve already seen!
Dynamically Improving High Impact Data
High Impact data is constantly being re-computed and refined to achieve better and better accuracy in our hashtag reports. You may have noticed this already: High Impact data included in a report that includes very recent tweets will include estimates of High Impact Impressions and High Impact Reach. The High Impact data for these reports is still being refined, improved and further analyzed. Come back to the same report in a couple days, and the High Impact numbers will have been updated to include even more accurate estimates.
Searching for the Most Accurate Transcript of Tweets
Believe it or not, Twitter itself is not perfect at recording and making tweets available. The Twitter search facilities, for example, sometimes lose or miss tweets, or don’t provide a complete list of tweets that include a particular hashtag. (For a really geeky and technical explanation why this may be, read an explanation of Brewer’s CAP Theorem.)
The Hashtracking.com tweet gathering system stores tweets from a variety of sources, making multiple attempts to gather tweets for the same hashtag and time period over an extended period of time to make sure we have the most accurate, most complete set of tweets possible. You can sometimes see this in our reports: a hashtag report may list more tweets as part of the same group conversation a day or two later. This data improvement is thanks to our thorough tweet recording system, which is able to identify some tweets which might not have been available through earlier searches.
