Hashtags are not just for the web anymore. New, practical uses for hashtags are springing up every day
Most folks already know that hashtags are a great way to keep track of a conversation on Twitter or group your photos on Instagram. If you use social media, you’ve probably poked around and seen the way that ad campaigns, news agencies and hipsters toss off hashtags.
Hashtags are a fun way to navigate subject matter on the web. But did you know about these practical, “in real life”, and much more tangible things that you can do, simply by tweeting with a hashtag?
Record your Favorite Shows with a Hashtag:
Brazil’s Sky tvallows subscribers to record their favorite tv shows with a tweet. No more running home to set their DVR or trying to log into remote sites. By sending off a tweet, they can ensure they won’t miss the season finale.
Shop with a Hashtag:
American Express now allows you to sync your twitter account with your Amex account so that you can tweet to purchase select items, take advantage of special offers and more.
Print your Photos with a Hashtag:
Rent Instaprint’s Printers for your next event and all your photos will print live. Simply hashtag the photos with your event tag or geolocation and they will print out for your or your guests to bring home. It’s the modern equivalent of a photobooth.
