Emma Watson, movie star, is apparently also Emma Watson, Thinking Woman and Feminist, and recently gave a speech at the United Nations calling on Men to declare their Feminism and used the Hashtag #HeForShe when they do it.
#HeForShe took off like a rocket, along with views of the video of Watson’s speech, and soon Twitter reported over 1 million tweets using the Hashtag worldwide in just a two-week period in late September.
The hashtag was further Immortalized on the walls of Twitter Headquarters, no doubt making Watson proud, but also proving to the rest of us that not all Silicon Valley Tech companies are filled with jerks. Some may even be staffed by Feminists, it seems.
I knew I loved Twitter for a reason. I thought it was all the tweets, but I guess it was really for all the latent Feminism.
