Q: What hashtags do you follow?
Anything I’m hosting a party for; I also like to check out what’s trending on Twitter.com and I’ll follow that. Pretty much anything of interest to me!
Q: What are your favorite hashtags to use?
On an onÂgoing basis, #running #fitness #runchat #disneysmmoms #rundisney and #mommixer.
But on any given day, I have a column open to one hashtag or another for either a current event
or brand/Twitter party I’m doing.
Q: What platforms do you use or track hashtags on?
Tweetdeck to follow; Hashtracking for the data!
Q: What insights do you gain from using hashtags and how do you execute on that insight?
I wouldn’t even know how to begin to answer this question in a neat little paragraph. I honestly
couldn’t engage and use Twitter at the capacity I use it today without the use of hashtags. I have
some 40k+ people following me and I’m following over 20k back.
I couldn’t possibly see what everyone was talking and doing at any minute of the day without total overload. I use hashtags constantly to filter out what’s of interest to me, to carry on conversations about specific topics and just generally stay in the know.
Q: Do you have a personal hashtag for your brand, business, or chat? If so, what is it and what can you tell us about it?
I use #MomMixer for my social media event business. Twice a year I coÂ-host social media events
and we bring together national brands and bloggers from the NYC to DC area to these social media events. The hashtag is a way the brands and bloggers can engage and find one another
before, during, and after the event.
Q: Is there a hashtag you’ve used that made a difference for you, your client, or the world?
Certainly. Having and using #MomMixer for our semiannual social media events has been huge in keeping
conversation going in the months when our event isn’t going on, engaging with party goers and finding
new brands to come and exhibit at our events.
Q: Is there a hashtag you wish you’d tracked?
I can’t say that I have any hashtag regrets. I use them and view them pretty regularly.
Q: Do you have a hashtag habit? Any tags you tend to use/abuse too much?
Love this question. I can’t say that there’s any kind of hashtagging abuse going on over on my
Twitter account but I definitely overuse on Facebook where users aren’t as hashtag friendly.
I love how a hashtag can just complete a thought though.
For example, I often drive myself to the gym when I mean to go to school or vice versa. I don’t even
know how I would have written a status update about that snafu before hashtags. Seems like #stupid
#mombrain is just a given when something like that happens! Hashtags complete my thoughts these days.Â
