We caught up with Stacey as part of our hashtag influencer series to find out how this social media powerhouse uses hashtags.
Q: What hashtags do you follow?
I generally only follow the hashtags that my brand uses - unless there is something going on in the news or pop culture that piques my interest!
Q: What are your favorite hashtags to use?
Each week, when I post my dinner menus for the week on my personal blog, I always tag the accompanying tweets with #dinner or #menu or #menuplan, because I know that I like to search those hashtags myself when I’m looking for dinner inspiration.
Q: What platforms do you use or track hashtags on?
Twubs and Tweetreach.
Q: What insights do you gain from using hashtags and how do you execute on that insight?
Hashtags let me know when there is an active and engaged community surrounding a certain topic. With all of the platforms out there and all of the conversations happening, it’s hard to find a ‘tribe’ who is devoted to a particular subject matter. Hashtags make it easy!
Q: Do you have a personal hashtag for your brand, business, or chat? If so, what is it and what can you tell us about it?
Yes, for Blogalicious we have a few! Each year we, of course, have our conference hashtag. This year it’s #BeGreatB6 because our theme for this year’s event is “Be Great” - we’re focused on supporting our blogging community in being great at building their personal brands, blogs, and businesses. The ‘B6′ part comes into play because it’s our 6th Annual Conference! Last year, people took to calling the event ‘B5′, so we are playing off of that. Put the theme and the year together and you have #BeGreatB6.
Other hashtags we use are #Scandalicious (for when we are live tweeting Scandal on ABC); and #ShopTalk (which refers to our monthly Google Hangouts or in-person meetups for solopreneurs in social media to talk shop.
Q: Is there a hashtag you’ve used that made a difference for you, your client, or the world?
Each year our conference hashtag is hugely important for Blogalicious, our community AND our sponsors. We always trend nationwide, if not worldwide, and it has a positive impact on ROI for the brands and exposure for our event and bloggers.
Q: Is there a hashtag you wish you’d tracked.
Probably just #Blogalicious. Because we never use this hashtag ourselves, we don’t think to track it. But we probably should as I’m sure there are folks who use it just because it’s our brand name.
Q: Do you have a hashtag habit? Any tags you tend to use/abuse too much?
I do! #Guilty. But my habit is more fun than anything else. I turn ANYTHING into a hashtag just because it’s how my brain works now. It’s not at all anything that is meant to be tracked!
Every week we’re featuring an interview with hashtag influencer. If you’re interested in being featured please contact kelly@hashtracking.com
