Q: What hashtags do you follow?
It depends on what I’m working on. #DisneySide, #GoT, and #MoreysPiers are a few from this weekend.
Q: What are your favorite hashtags to use?
#Typical – usually when making fun of my family. And #KitKat when talking about my cat. Otherwise it depends on what I’m working on or doing.
Q: What platforms do you use or track hashtags on?
Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. Sometimes Pinterest. And, sadly, they slip into emails sometimes – but only when I’m writing to people who will “get” it. Hashtags have become such a handy shorthand!
Q: What insights do you gain from using hashtags and how do you execute on that insight?
I can see how much of an impact I’m having. When a brand hires me they want to know that their message is getting out, and a Hashtracking report helps me do that. I can use that insight to get more work!
Q: Do you have a personal hashtag for your brand, business, or chat? If so, what is it and what can you tell us about it?
Not really. It changes depending on the topic.
Q: Is there a hashtag you’ve used that made a difference for you, your client, or the world?
I think the one I’m most proud of was #KiddeSafety – I hosted a couple of twitter parties for Kidde and we raised awareness about home safety in a big way. Such an important topic.
Q: Is there a hashtag you wish you’d tracked?
Only out of jealousy.
Q: Do you have a hashtag habit? Any tags you tend to use/abuse too much?
I don’t’ think I’m too much of an abuser. I do hate seeing posts with lines and lines of hashtags though. That tends to happen a lot of Facebook. So obnoxious. And please people, if you’re going to use a long hashtag, capitalize the first letter of each word! Otherwise they’re just too hard to figure out.
Well, look at that: You asked me about something I do wrong and I turned it into a criticism of other people’s habits. #Typical.
