CBS Daytime Uses Twitter To “Write” The Price is Right

CBS Daytime recently turned to Twitter to get their social media fans to vote on what games contestants would play and what prizes they would win on their iconic show, The Price is Right. Fans also got to vote on what outfits some of the guest stars would wear and even where host Drew Carey would take a #selfie.

CBS Daytime has long used social media to great advantage for their shows and this is really them taking it to the next level. Look for their long-running hashtag for contestants waiting in line outside the studio: #TPIRSelfie.

They made use of a Facebook chat, a Pinterest Sweepstakes, a Youtube series Behind The Scenes, an Instagram Contestant Search and even did live interaction with fans on Twitter during the shows. Calling it their “Socially Awesome Week, the shows taped in April and aired the week of June 2-6.

Rather than have a free-for-all, Twitter fans were given a set of two options to choose between, and, according to Executive Producer Mike Richards, fans really wanted to see cash prizes more than cars.

Yvonne Condes and I got to be in the studio audience when their #YouDecide show - the one all thanks to Twitter - was taped and I’ve got a post over at MomsLA with more of the details.

Sarah Auerswald is the co-Founder of MomsLA and was not eligible to be “called on down” when she sat in the audience. She was just there to watch.
