Who among us hasn’t wished for the ability to Time Travel? Whether to be able to do something as touching as to see a long-lost loved-one once again, or something as mercenary as placing a bet on classic Super Bowl game, Time Travel is one of the most wished-for super powers ever to be imagined.
Or is it more than imaginary?
Researchers at Michigan Technological University wondered if it were real, too, and so they did a study on it.
These researchers used Twitter to test if Time Travel were real.
How? According to ValueWalk.com they “… looked for signs of two popular search terms on Twitter before these terms entered into usage. They looked for hashtag and term use, pre-dating historical events. The two terms were ‘comet ISON,’ which entered usage on Set. 21, 2012, and ‘Pope Francis,’ which entered usage on March 16, 2013.”
The results? They did not expose any Time Travelers by using Twitter, sadly. If indeed there are time travelers amongst us, they are not as sloppy about scheduling their tweets as some of their modern counterparts.
While this does not restore my faith in institutions of higher learning, it does make me happy to think about the whimsy that was involved in making the decision to go ahead with the study.
Hashtracking.com would like to go on record, for any Time Travelers out there listening, that they’re happy to provide time travelers with a special rate: they just have to go back to 1850 and deposit $1 in Hashtracking’s name. With compounding interest it should easily cover a lifetime subscription to a gold account.
Sarah Auerswald is the co-Founder of MomsLA.com and not-so-secretly wishes she could Time Travel right now.
